52 유다인들은 “이 사람이 어떻게 자기 살을 우리에게 먹으라고 줄 수 있단 말인가?” 하고 서로 다투었다.
53 예수께서 그들에게 말씀하셨다. “정말 잘 들어 두어라. 사람의 아들의 살을 먹지 않고 그 피를 마시지 않으면 너희는 생명을 얻을 수 없다.
54 내 살을 먹고 내 피를 마시는 사람은 영원한 생명을 얻을 것이고, 나는 마지막 날에 그를 다시 살릴 것이다.
55 나의 살은 참된 양식이고, 나의 피는 참된 음료이다.
56 내 살을 먹고 내 피를 마시는 사람은 내 안에 있고 나도 그 사람 안에 있다.
57 살아 계신 아버지께서 나를 보내셨고 내가 아버지로 말미암아 사는 것처럼, 나를 먹는 그 사람도 나로 말미암아 살 것이다.
58 이것이 하늘에서 내려온 빵이다. 이것은 조상들이 먹고도 죽은 그런 빵과는 다르다. 이 빵을 먹는 사람은 영원히 살 것이다.”
59 예수께서는 가르치시는 중에 이 말씀을 카파르나움 회당에서 하셨다.

✨ 묵상 (한글)

예수님께서는 우리에게 당신의 살과 피를 먹고 마시라고 하십니다. 이 말씀은 당시 사람들에게도 충격적이었고 지금 우리에게도 깊은 의미를 던져 줍니다. 단지 상징이 아니라, 성체성사는 그분의 실제 현존이요, 우리가 하느님과 일치하는 깊은 신비입니다.

예수님을 먹고 마신다는 것은 그분의 생명을 온전히 받아들이고, 나의 삶 속에서 그분을 살아내겠다는 고백입니다. 그분 안에 머물고 그분이 내 안에 계심을 믿는 것은 곧 사랑 안에 머무는 삶을 의미합니다.

우리가 주님의 살과 피를 통해 얻는 생명은 영원한 생명이며, 이것이야말로 진정한 양식입니다. 성체 앞에 설 때마다 우리는 이 놀라운 선물 앞에 감사와 경외의 마음을 다시 새기게 됩니다.

당신께서 나에게 참된 생명을 주시기 위해 당신의 몸과 피를 내어주셨음을 믿습니다.

세상의 양식이 아닌, 하늘의 빵으로 살아가는 내가 되게 하시고,
영원한 생명을 향해 걸어가는 믿음의 순례자가 되게 하소서.

52 The Jews argued among themselves, saying, “How can this man give us his flesh to eat?”
53 Jesus said to them, “Amen, amen, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you do not have life within you.
54 Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him on the last day.
55 For my flesh is true food, and my blood is true drink.
56 Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me and I in him.
57 Just as the living Father sent me and I live because of the Father, so whoever eats me will live because of me.
58 This is the bread that came down from heaven. Unlike your ancestors who ate and still died, whoever eats this bread will live forever.”
59 These things he said while teaching in the synagogue in Capernaum.

✨ Meditation (English)

Jesus invites us into a profound mystery — to eat His flesh and drink His blood. While these words shocked His listeners then, they challenge us today to go beyond symbolism and embrace the real presence in the Eucharist.

To eat His flesh and drink His blood is to receive His very life into our own. It is not just communion — it is union. He remains in us, and we in Him. This communion of love brings us not just comfort, but the promise of eternal life.

The Eucharist is not an optional devotion — it is the Bread of Life. As we receive Him, we become like Him. May we approach the Eucharist with faith, awe, and the desire to be transformed.

Lord Jesus,
I believe that You gave Your flesh and blood to give me life.
When I receive You in the Eucharist, let Your love take root in me and renew my spirit.
Help me to hunger not for earthly bread but for the Bread of Heaven.
Make me a pilgrim of faith, walking toward eternal life with You.
Amen.
